Ashleigh Rees
Registered social worker (SWRB), Members of ANZASW and NZAP (student) and Hakomi Therapist in training.
Hi, Iām Ashleigh
I am a training Hakomi therapist in my third year of training. I have a background as a social worker with 12 years of experience in various fields, including working with children, families, young people and adults in the areas of mental health, complex trauma, family work, addictions, therapy, and family violence.
I have a deep reverence for the mind-body-soul connection and the wisdom it holds. As my own personal journey in deepening this connection has unfolded, I have also been drawn to be with the unique inner worlds of others.
Hakomi is an experiential and body-centered psychotherapy approach that combines mindfulness, somatic processing, and the therapeutic relationship to support self-discovery. Hakomi therapy would suit a person who is interested in a holistic approach to viewing the human experience. It is a collaborative approach to therapy, aiming to support a person in self-study and developing inner awareness of their deeper layers, relational patterns, behaviours and ways of operating in the world through a compassionate lens.
As an experienced practitioner I am able to work with a wide range of clients, drawing on my previous trainings and professional roles, including attachment theory, trauma processing, mental health, sexuality, addictions, somatic processing and nervous system regulation.
