Rebecca Rae-Hodgson
Kia ora, ko Rebecca taku ingoa. I'm an Occupational Therapist (Whakaora Ngangahau) with lived experience of chronic and mental illnesses. I was born in New Zealand but spent many years in Australia before returning and settling in Golden Bay/Mohua at the start of 2021 to be closer to family support.
I firmly believe in the power of meaningful occupations to improve people's lives and I want to support other people with chronic illnesses and mental health challenges to engage in the things they want and need to do. I believe it's also important to learn more about the beautifully unique ways in which we interact with the world, recognising our strengths and what we have to offer as well as figuring out, and doing something about, the areas in which we need support.
I'm here to help you work through the hard stuff as well as find the moments of joy and celebrate the big and little wins. Let's find ways to build your resilience and strength, while balancing it with self-compassion and rest.
We can work together to set goals, explore and build on your strengths, and creatively problem solve any barriers to participation and engagement in your meaningful and valued activities. This could include things such as: building a toolkit of skills and strategies to support regulation, working on pacing, sleep, organisation, routines, motivation, self-compassion, self-validation, looking at language and thought patterns, exploring interests and different activities, social life, work life, relationships - if it's important to you and something you want to work on then let's explore it.
I will be offering 1:1 appointments and group sessions in person and online, working with adults only. My current availability will be on Monday afternoons.
